When Mickey D joined his forever family, he found a Sheltie best friend in Sparky, also adopted from Minnesota Sheltie Rescue. They loved to wrestle or to run together in their fenced yard. Mickey D, also affectionately called Lickey Mickey due to his kissy nature, enjoyed observing his surroundings and feeling the summer breeze from the grassless cavern he created in the yard. On June 19th, 2020, not long after his best pal crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Mickey D also earned his angel wings to reunite with his brother Sparky. |
Schumi and his dad were the best of friends for the 9 years they shared together, and grew to be in tune with what the other was thinking. At family gatherings, Schumi was the best behaved, and, of course, the cutest. Dad and Schumi enjoyed their long walks together to stay in shape. Schumi went to heaven on Thursday, June 11th. He had been struggling with Cushing’s disease and arthritis in his rear legs. On Thanksgiving 2019 he nearly died from kidney failure due to the medication. Dad wasn’t ready to say goodbye to him, and asked for more time. Schumi seemed to turn the corner, giving dad several more months to love and spoil him. |
When Whitney came to MNSR, it was meant to be that she would stay within her wonderful foster family. The daughter had a special connection with Whitney, finding comfort in her cuddles. Whitney found her special someone to love her unconditionally and to help her feel safe. Christmas Eve 2016, they became a forever family. Whitney was so excited to greet her mom when she came home, barking and running with joy and getting her belly rubs. Whitney and her mom liked to go on walks, snuggle on the couch, and visit with the family (her former fosters). In 2018, Whitney had a pacemaker surgically implanted and we were happy to hear she recovered quickly. Because of the love and trust in her mom, Whitney blossomed into the loving, sweet, gentle girl she was. We are deeply saddened that Whitney gained her angel wings on June 5th, 2020. A truly beautiful angelic soul who is immensely missed by her mom and the whole family who loved her so. |
Foxie quickly became mom's shadow, following her everywhere, and found a kindred spirit in her ball-chasing brother Petey, who was also adopted from MNSR. Although she had one eye to see with, she never missed a thing. Her great joy was barking at birds, rabbits, people, plants, cars, bikes, etc. Foxie crossed over the rainbow bridge on June 3rd, 2020. She had such a large personality in such a small body. She kept an eye on the neighborhood and let me know when someone or something was moving. My house is extremely quiet. She was a very special girl and I really miss her! |
