Rainbow Bridge Memories

This page is dedicated in loving memory to the MNSR foster and adopted Shelties who are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

Rainbow Bridge Stories

Enchanted Lilly Rose was my first foster but not for long. I adopted her in February of 2009 and she was a little ‘devil’ dog! Mark would say those are horns coming out of her head not ears. She was loved dearly despite her little antics. Lilly was independent, not a snuggler or kisser. She loved to lay out in the yard and watch the world go by. She quickly became the boss of the house by letting us know what time it was all the time. Time to get up, time to eat, time to potty and time for treats. She did not like going for walks due to her gimpy leg so her backyard was her play area. She developed arthritis in that leg a couple years ago, and despite having part of her jaw removed from a tumor, she was a little trooper. She will be dearly missed by us.

Bandit joined his forever family in 2014 and found a best friend in his sister Portia, who was an Eskie mix like him. They loved to bark at the mail carrier and to chase the squirrels in the yard. Harley the cat decided Bandit was also his best friend and followed him everywhere. Bandit loved the cold and would dive face first into the snow. His mom would run a fan for him even in winter because he loved that. Bandit crossed the Rainbow Bridge on November 25th, 2020 and is very missed.

Beautiful Claire was adopted by very special people in January 2020, knowing their time with this very sweet 12 year old girl with kidney disease would be focused on quality. And oh, how loved and happy she was with them! The thing she loved most in the last couple months was when her daddy carried her from outside and she just had to look at him and he would carry her upstairs for her ice water. We miss Claire Bear and her demanding way to have us try to guess what she wanted. Outside? Nope. Water? Not just cold water, but her special ice water from the fridge. She loved playing games. Claire earned her angel wings on November 24th, 2020.

Somewhere during the long night of watching over her for the last time, Candy, ever the alpha pup, chose her own time to slip over the rainbow bridge on November 18th, 2020. I don't know when, exactly, as she chose to go while I was taking a catnap. I miss her so much - she was my ‘steady eddie’ Sheltie, always by my side. Laddie and I still look for her and probably will for some time. She's been a constant and wonderful companion to me for 13 years and during this Covid 19 pandemic. It's hard to say goodbye to a friend like that, but I know she's running free now and in no pain, so I take comfort in that.
