Mandy

It is with much sadness I need to let you know that I had to say goodbye to my friend and companion Mandy. After losing six rescue Shelties over many years one would think it would get a bit easier but was sure not the case. Her vet told me it was the kindest decision I could make for Mandy so had to do what was best for her and not for me.

My wife and I adopted Mandy 9 years ago and she reached the age of 17. Of the 7 rescue Shelties we have adopted, Mandy had the most mellow and easy-going personality. Initially Mandy was very skittish, but after she trusted me she bonded so firmly and wanted to be with me 24/7 indoors and outdoors.

Mandy gave us much joy over the years but she had a special role and significance in my life the past six years; it seemed like she was very aware and understanding. My wife passed away in 2017 and Mandy was such a helpful companion getting through the tough days and months that followed. Such a wonderful friend and companion Mandy has been to me. She is truly missed and will be forever remembered for what she gave to my wife and me. Peace comes from knowing that Mandy’s physical limitations and issues with cognitive decline are no more. Thank you Minnesota Sheltie Rescue for connecting Mandy with us 9 years ago.
