Pixie’s foster family has loved every second of having her in their lives, and they are so grateful to have the opportunity to spend time with her and help her along her journey. She is the bestest girl who can’t wait to meet you!
Age: 7 years
Size: 60 lbs.
Temperament: Pixie loves everybody! She is extremely loving and trusting of people. She wants to make friends with everyone. If you’re petting her and stop, she will paw at you and ask for more pets please.
Fence: A secure, fenced yard is preferred because Pixie would love to be able to stretch her legs and run. We will consider a home without a fence with an adopter who will commit to using a leash at all times as required by the adoption contract.
Dogs: Pixie loves playtime with other dogs. She likes to sniff at new friends and to chase, and this might be overwhelming for some other dogs. For dogs who love to play, she’s your girl! She loves playdates with other dogs, and would love to make new dog friends she can see regularly.
Cats: Pixie is wonderfully cat friendly. She lived with cats previously, and she is trusted entirely with her foster home’s 2 resident cats.
Kids: Pixie is gentle with children of all ages. Loud noises can be a bit much for her, and she will need access to a quiet place to decompress. Pixie would do best with children who understand about giving a dog space and adults who monitor children’s interactions with Pixie.
Crate Use: Pixie is not used to a crate or kennel and has free run of the house at her foster home. She does not steal food, but will politely and quietly sit and stare at you with high hopes.
Housetrained: Pixie is perfectly house trained at her foster home.
Responds to Cues: Pixie responds to “come”, “sit”, “shake”, “lie down”, “up”, and “outside”. Her foster family is working on “stay”, “all done” and “back inside”. She also knows her name very well, and will come from across the house when called.
Leash Walks: Pixie LOVES walks. She pulls a little as she is very curious and wants to check out all the sights and smells.
Car Rides: Pixie is not a fan of car rides. Her foster family is working with her on this. She is more comfortable when she has somebody sitting next to her to reassure her with pets and cuddles, or if she has her favorite treat ball.
Activity Level: Pixie is a medium energy dog. She lounges quite a bit, but she is all happy tails and excitement when she has somebody to take her outside. She is happy to roam around the yard or go on a walk. She doesn’t play with balls or toys, but she is smart and could probably learn.
Barking: Pixie occasionally barks at people or noises outside, at the front door, or at other dogs out on walks, but with a wagging tail. She’s shouting her excitement at potential new friends!
Health: Pixie tested positive for lyme antibodies, but her urinalysis did not indicate an active infection. Pixie was treated for a UTI, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped while in foster care.
Pixie really is a dream dog who would do well with a family, a stay at home/work at home caregiver, or a retiree. She would be happiest with somebody that can provide her regular love, cuddles, and outside time. She truly deserves to find her new best friends. Pixie mostly wants to be near her people. She has come to work a few times with her foster mom and does great - except she does occasionally bark at the door or people outside.
Adoption fee: $350
