On Tuesday, November 17th, every donation made during "Give to the Max Day" will receive a portion of the $500,000 matching funds. Even $5 goes farther today! Any amount you're able to contribute makes a big difference in the lives of the Shelties in our care.
As if that isn't exciting enough - The three nonprofits that receive donations from the most individual donors will receive cash prizes: $5,000 for first prize, $2,500 for second, and $1,000 for third.
MN Sheltie Rescue uses your donations to fund the care and veterinary needs of the dogs in our program. Thanks to your generous support, we're able to provide our dogs with the care that they need to be healthy and happy. On average, MNSR spends (on average) between $300 to $500 per dog for basic vaccinations, check-up, spay/neuter, and are put on heartworm preventative and flea/tick control, and basic dental care, if needed. Many of the dogs we receive require more extensive veterinary care, which we are able to provide solely through your support.
So far in 2009, we've taken in 61 Shelties in need...and the year isn't over yet. Here's a short list of some of the more involved veterinary cases we've seen this year:
Laddie, senior Sheltie mix: Blood profile and chemistry, X-Rays to evaluate pain/arthritis, dental cleaning
Jenna: Blood profile and chemistry, additional testing (TLI/Cobalamin/Folate test) for digestive issues
Mickey, senior Sheltie boy: Ongoing treatment for skin issues, treated for staph infection
Stormy Blue: Spay, blood profile, treatment for Lyme disease and Anaplasmosis
Lady Jane: Spay, blood profile, dental with extractions, thyroid test, treatment for ear infection and yeast infection (total vet care was over $1000.00)
These Shelties, and all the rest in our program, are happy and healthy thanks to your generosity!
Make your donation go even farther...donate through giveMN.org on November 17th! Thank you in advance for your support - and the Shelties bark their thanks as well!
